Funerary Art & Mourning Bouquets Tis the season when a person’s thoughts turn to all things traditionally spooky. So let’s learn all about floriography in cemeteries! From how flowers have been used in death culture – from centuries past to today’s green burials – blooms have had a variety of meanings. Never fear! The focus will be on Victorian Era use of floral symbolism on gravestones and in the use of mourning bouquets, and you’ll create your own arrangement of symbolic blooms tied up neatly with black velvet ribbon.
Funerary Art: Outside An extension of the above class, tours will be given at various times during the month highlighting a local cemetery and its use of plants/flowers in landscaping and gravestone imagery.
